Hi there folks! You're about to read a review about the SkyLte SL-900 pilot aviation headset with gel earseals.

I purchased this product brand new on 16th of May 2012 from ebay user flyskylite, supposed to be official ebay seller for the company Skylite itself.
I paid
107.00USD and 18.00USD for shipping to Bulgaria and further 25.00USD for customs. It took about 2 weeks for shipping to Bulgaria.
When I was researching it, I couldn't find any reviews on the internet so I decided to buy it and write one.
By the time I published this review, I already have had more than 50 hours flight time with this headset.
1st impression you have when you put it on your head is that it is wider than other headsets and it makes you look little funny, but this doesn't affect functionality.
So I don't regard it as a problem. The headset came with a bag, which turned out to be of a much better quality than expected. It has soft cushions for shock absorption and some pockets, but I use it only for the headset. The microphone has a friction lock, that selfunscrews when you move it up and down.
2nd When I first plugged it in an aircraft I thought that the microphone wasn't working, but it turns out that it needs different squelch setting to catch the speech. The setting at which other headsets would do it (Same aircraft tested with a David Clark and a Pelton), didn't work for this one. So I guess the microphone is maybe not as sensitive as it needs to be, but as long as this is correctable via adjustment of the radio, I don't think it's a big problem.
3rd feature I'd like to talk about is something I consider to have been messed up during manufacture on my headset. Right speaker has a knob that is supposed to control the volume for the right ear, but on my headset it doesn't work. The left end of the rotation ends with a switch that should turn the speaker off on the leftmost end of the knob, but instead it turns it on. And thus the rotation to the right doesn't work, as the speaker is switched off. For me this is not a problem, because I wouldn't use different volume settings for the two speakers anyways. The left speaker has a knob that controls volume for the two speakers, so to call it master volume, that doesn't have an on/off switch at it's end of rotation.
The headset is quite comfortable, having in mind it's the cheapest headset I could find on the internet. I am satisfied with the product. But if you're not restricted by the money, my advice is not to be tempted by the cheap price and invest at least 300.00USD for a headset.
